S4LCC Cancer ReSource Station
Alyson Moadel-Robblee, Ph.D., lost her mother to cancer when she was just 16 years old and has since devoted her career to developing programs to meet the needs of cancer patients and their families. The BOLD (Bronx Oncology Living Daily) Program is a free wellness and support program that was launched in 2008 at Albert Einstein College of Medicine and Montefiore Health System to meet the particular needs of those affected by cancer and their families, regardless of where they received treatment. The program grew out of an ongoing psychosocial needs assessment of cancer patients and includes workshops such as yoga, crochet, drum circle, Reiki healing, meditation, Aikido, and a walking group. In addition, there are weekly counseling and support groups, and peer counseling through the volunteer-based BOLD Buddy Program. The program is offered for both English and Spanish speakers.
